Cuper started with a frustration that a lot of people share: dating apps weren't built for connection. They were built for engagement. We wanted to fix that.
The problem we couldn't ignore
We noticed something in how people talked about dating apps: they used them because they felt they had to, not because they enjoyed it. Swiping left and right on faces felt hollow. Matches that went nowhere. Conversations that died. Trust that eroded.
The things that predict long-term relationship satisfaction - emotional attunement, communication style, attachment security, shared values - aren't visible in a photo. They require something closer to understanding.
